A block removes them from your list and prevents you from seeing their content, but also prevents them from seeing your content. We all have certain topics wed rather avoid online and thankfully you can mute specific words and phrases on Twitter. First announced in 2014, the mute functionality allows you to basically turn off accounts without blocking or unfollowing them. But now your Twitter life can be a little quieter as the company announced its rolling out. First up is the Twitter mute functionality. Internally, the player is embedded using the YouTube IFRAME API. Life doesn't have a mute button, only noise-canceling headphones. Go the YouTube video page and note down the ID of the video from the URL. The page loads, the video plays but with the audio slide is all the way down. Similarly, if you are using YouTube video backgrounds, it makes more sense to embed muted videos that run in a loop.
